Re: Common Pests

I have read that boiling tobacco to make a "tea" results in a good pesticide. Anybody ever try that?

Forgot to mention that I have found these worms to be good fish bait!!

Re: Learning about Tobacco Pipes

While I did not spend a lot of time at that site I can see that there is a lot of good information there for the novice pipe smoker. Saw a few things I disagree with but he has his opinion and I have mine. The thing to keep in mind is that nothing is set in stone.Just because I or anyone else says s...

Re: MY Butz - Choquin 1609 PIPE

Smokey, Beware of any tobaccos in plastic bags that your tobacco shop may carry. Most of them are heavily laced with Propylene Glycol (PG). It is a food grade additive that has been used for years on tobacco both as a flavoring and a humidicant.Brands such as Smokers Pride and Super Value and the Wa...

Re: Crossbreeding Strains

I seem to remember reading somewhere that if the flower heads are cut off the plant will put more growth into the leaves. Anybody know if that is true? If that is true it would seem to be a good way to increase production and control cross pollination.

Cigarette filters are to big to be used in a pipe. The Dr. Grabow filters can be bought at Walgreens or most tobacco or discount cigarette stores. A box of 10 usually runs around $1.00. Your Butz pipe may not be made to use any type of filter. If you want to use a pipe for trying various tobacco ble...

Re: MY Butz - Choquin 1609 PIPE

Filtered pipes, such as Dr. Grabow and Medico use a 6mm paper filter. the filter is inserted in to the tenon and extends in to the shank when the stem is inserted in the bowl. Some of the European pipes use a 9mm filter. I should note that not all Dr. Grabows use a filter, some of the older pipes have...

Re: MY Butz - Choquin 1609 PIPE

I'm a pipe smoker also. Picked it up about 5 years ago as an alternative to cigarettes. I smoke mostly Dr. Grabows and Medicos. I like filter pipes. Have a few that I made including one made of Mulberry. It has turned out to be a great smoker. Used a Grabow stem so that a filter can be used.

Re: Hi from Missouri.

Thank you for the welcome. I did get the impression that this forum is new. Hopefully it will continue to grow. There is much I would like to learn. Don't know that I can contribute much other than maybe a lot of questions. Ed.
